Website Redesign Case Study for Blue Season Bali

With years of experience in scuba diving, international awards, and outstanding customer reviews, Blue Season Bali is one of the most respected dive operators in Bali. Known for its professional team and world-class dive experiences, the company attracts divers from all over the world.

As the business continued to grow, Blue Season Bali recognized that its website needed to evolve as well. To stay competitive and better support marketing and bookings, they partnered with Juicebox to redesign their website from the ground up in 2016.

The Challenge: A Website That Had Outgrown Itself

When Blue Season Bali first contacted our team, we conducted a full review of their existing website. What we found was a site that had become overly complex over time.

It contained thousands of pages, outdated design elements, and an old technical structure that made updates difficult. The website was built using custom PHP and did not have a content management system (CMS).

This meant that even small changes required developer support, slowing down marketing efforts and increasing costs. The visual design also felt dated and did not reflect the excitement and quality of the scuba diving experience that Blue Season Bali offers.

Most importantly, the site was not making the best use of the company’s incredible underwater photography. The images are a major selling point, but the old design did not give them the attention they deserved.

Clear calls to action were also missing, making it harder for visitors to book dives or get in touch.

Setting Clear Goals for the Redesign

In early discussions with Blue Season Bali’s general manager, it became clear that the website needed to play a bigger role in the company’s overall marketing strategy. Together, we defined a set of clear and practical goals for the project:

  • Match the website design with Blue Season Bali’s brand and visual identity.

  • Increase the number of inquiries coming through the website.

  • Add an online booking system for direct reservations.

  • Protect and improve existing search engine rankings.

  • Reach new customers through additional keyword opportunities.

  • Launch the site in English, Russian, and Japanese, with the option to add Indonesian and Chinese later.

These goals ensured that the new website would not only look better, but also deliver real business value.

The Solution: A Modern Website Built to Grow

Our design and development team created a completely new website using a modern WordPress Multisite setup. This platform allows multiple language versions of the site to be managed easily from one system.

Editors for each language can update their own content without affecting other parts of the site, making day-to-day management much simpler. From a design point of view, the new site focuses strongly on visuals.

High-quality scuba diving images are used throughout the layout to immediately capture attention and communicate the adventure, professionalism, and trust behind the brand. The structure of the site was simplified, making it easier for visitors to find information, explore dive packages, and take action.

We also built clear calls to action into key pages, guiding users toward contacting the team or booking their dives online. This helped turn the website into an active sales and inquiry channel, rather than just an information source.

SEO and Performance Improvements

Alongside the redesign, our team carried out a complete SEO review of the website. We improved site structure, page layouts, and technical foundations to meet modern search engine standards.

This work helped preserve existing high-performing search rankings while opening the door to new keyword growth in competitive scuba diving and travel searches.

The Results

The redesigned website delivered strong results across design, usability, and performance:

  • An integrated online booking engine

  • Existing search rankings maintained or improved
